Barbados beaches are magnificent and the sand ranges in color from pink to white.
All of the beaches are open to the public and access is enforced by the government. An underwater trail ideal for snorkelers follows a reef near Folkestone Park in St. James Parish.
Since Barbados is the most eastern of all of the Caribbean islands, it is the first to receive the Atlantic Ocean's swell, which crashes on shore on the northern and eastern coast. However, the western and southern coasts are calmer and quiet, perfect for swimming and a wide variety of water sports.
Recommended Beaches in Barbados
Payne's Beach
The waters at this beach offer flat calm swimming for people of all ages and swimming levels. Beachgoers enjoy swimming with turtles at Payne's Beach. Families and single travelers all congregate here, so there's a good mix of people, making Paynes Bay a great spot for everyone. Because the water is calm, it's perfect for snorkeling, swimming, and a variety of watersports. Located in the Sandy Lane area of St. James.
Crane's Beach
Considered to be one of the island's most beautiful beaches, the pink sand of Crane's Beach on the South coast attracts locals and visitors alike.
The "Soup Bowl"
Located at Bathsheba and Cattlewash, offers a breathtaking landscape.
West Coast Beaches
Generally the beaches on the west coast are the most calm, which make them good for swimming and snorkeling. Some of the beaches we recommend include: Batts Rock, Brandons, Fitts Village, Folkestone Park in St.James, Heywoods in St.Peter, Mullins Bay, and Sandy Lane
