Hawaii (The Big Island) Beaches

Because this island is relatively newer than the others, there are not many white sand beaches like you find on a couple of the other islands. There are 2 natural sand beaches though, one in front of Mauna Kea Resort, the other in front of the Hapuna Beach Resort. There are lovely man-made beaches in front of the big resorts as well and a few pockets of beaches all along the coast. There is a great kiddy beach in Keauhou where the surf is gentle, where the water is shallow and the turtles love to hang out.
