Jamaica has many beautiful beaches.
Recommended Beaches in Jamaica
Montego Bay
The northwest coast offers several white sand beaches including Doctor's Cave Beach, Walter Fletcher Beach and Cornwall Beach.
Frenchman's Bay
Frenchman's Bay, said to be one of the most beautiful small beaches in Jamaica, can be found east of Port Antonio. For a small charge (about US$3) you can enjoy bodysurfing (since the cove itself does get waves appropriate for this), relax in the shade of the foliage in the cove, enjoy the other scenery like the river that empties into the cove, sunbathe on the beach, and grab a bite to eat at the food concession.
Boston Bay
Boston Bay, just east of Port Antonio, has a lovely beach with small fishing boats and beach stands where you can sample the jerk pork and chicken. Surfers will enjoy the large sets that roll ashore.
Blue Lagoon
A popular beach and swimming area, the water here is a deep blue due to its 180-foot depth. There is an admission fee charged. The amount of the fee is deducted from your refreshment tab. If the name sounds familiar, it is because this is where they filmed the movie "Blue Lagoon" with Brooke Shields. The water is very deep (188 feet) which makes the water color cobalt blue. This a great place to swim and enjoy the scenery.
Negril
One of Jamaica's most popular, the beach here is seven miles of golden sand offering a wide variety of water sports. The west coast beaches are a place to enjoy spectacular sunsets. The west coast beaches are a place to enjoy spectacular sunsets.
Ocho Rios
Mallards Beach and Turtle Beach are two of the more popular area beaches.
Booby Cay
Island offshore where Disney's "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" was filmed - nude sunning and snorkeling are enjoyed here.
Long Bay
5 miles of sand, majority of hotels are here.
Doctor's Cave
Therapeutic mineral spring water and saltwater bathing.
