Maui Travel Tips

Getting to Maui:

The main airport on the island is Kahalui (OGG) on the north side of the island and this is where all main flights come in and out of.

 Getting Around Maui:

You will definitely want a rental car on Maui. There are a few limo companies, cab service and a shuttle service there but they are few and far between and outside of hiring a private car and driver, public transportation is pretty much non-existent. Especially when staying in a private home, a rental car is a must-have for excursions, grocery shopping, etc…and how else are you going to visit that hidden waterfall or out-of-the-way beach?

More Travel Tips:

  • Many airlines fly direct from the US mainland into Maui’s Kahului Airport. Non-stop are usually available from San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Las Vegas.
  • Many other airlines offer connecting flights through Honolulu.
  • Afternoon sea level temperature ranges from 75° in the cooler months up to 90° in August & September.
  • Activities abound for all travelers on Maui; vacationers can hike Mt. Haleakala, snorkel in Molokini, surf at Jaws, shop in Lahaina & Kihei, drive leisurely on the road to Hana, or just relax on one of many beautiful beaches.
  • Maui nightlife is at its best in lively Lahaina
  • Enjoy amazing cuisine throughout the island, where most restaurants will do their best to complement their menus with an array of local ingredients and fresh fish
