About Barbados

This island jewel hanging on the eastern end of the Caribbean necklace boasts a warm West Indian climate, a stimulating nightlife, and tranquil, pink-and white-sand beaches. While it offers just about everything travelers look for in a tropical vacation--world-class golf courses, fine dining, sea excursions, and excellent snorkeling and diving--Barbados is quite different from most Caribbean islands. Commonly referred to as "Little England" because of its West Indian culture, the island nation features a strong British influence. Afternoon tea is common as is dressing up for dinner, and cricket is the national sport. Whether they're looking for the traditional tropical retreat, or they want to explore the heart of Barbados and discover its charm, guests choosing the villa vacation can experience the destination on their own terms.

Villa Favorites in Barbados

Leamington Pavilion, our villa favorite for October, is a four-bedroom, beachfront estate located near historic Speightstown in beautiful Barbados. The home features a Baroque dining room seating 12, classic antique furnishings, an extensive library, air-conditioned bedrooms, and a drawing room that opens onto a pergola.

The villa's two-acre grounds include a private gym, tennis courts, a large swimming pool surrounded by a spacious loggia and two airy gazebos, and an air-conditioned beach cottage, which provides a full kitchen and an additional double bedroom. In front of the property is a reef that is ideal for snorkeling, and guests can visit a small stretch of beach just north of the property for a refreshing ocean swim. A staff of eight (cook, butler, three maids, laundress, night watchman, and gardener) services the villa daily to ensure a carefree, relaxing vacation experience for guests.

While guests may have difficulty leaving this--their very own kingdom--there are other treasures nearby, including the three golf courses at the ultra-luxurious Sandy Lane Hotel & Golf Club.
