The golf course celebrated its silver anniversary in 2005. Over the years it has played host to celebrities--from presidents to athletes to Bill Gates--and professional golfers who come to test their skill on the infamous Devil's Triangle. Anyone who plays these three holes--the 13th, 14th, and 15th--without a penalty receives a souvenir from the clubhouse honoring this accomplishment. Tom and George Fazio designed this 18 hole, par 72 golf course carved out of St. Thomas's rugged north coast. Golf Digest called the course, fit onto 10 acres with tight winding fairways, an engineering marvel when it opened in 1980. Mahogany Golf Course's new owners, Ginn Clubs and Resorts, recently refurbished the clubhouse. The grille has been enclosed and air conditioning has been installed. Hi definition TVs have also been added. Guests can choose to play all 18 holes or just the back 9 with its Devil's Triangle. Call ahead to reserve a tee time on this popular course. The villa was built as two pavilions connected by a covered walkway with a lovely swimming pool and hot tub. The main pavilion houses the communal spaces: an open-plan great room, kitchen, and dining area as well as a powder room. French doors lead from the great room to the long covered deck, where guests can enjoy al fresco dining, relaxing, or sunbathing. The main pavilion also has a master bedroom with private bath and veranda as well as an adjoining office with computer and Internet service. The second pavilion has a main level master bedroom with private bath and deck. Downstairs is another master bedroom with private bath, sitting area, and veranda. This suite has its own private exterior staircase. This lovely villa has high wood-beamed ceilings, ceramic tile, and a soothing palette of shell pink and Caribbean sand accented with wood furniture. Amenities include a large screen TV, cable, air conditioning, and computer. Diva Villa is a wonderful choice for couples or families choosing to enjoy the delights of St. Thomas. Restaurant of the Month: Old Stone Farmhouse, St. Thomas, USVIThis wonderful restaurant overlooking the Mahogany Run Golf Course has earned numerous awards-including Best of the Caribbean from Caribbean Travel and Life readers, Best Gourmet Restaurant on St. Thomas, Best Chef on St. Thomas, and a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence. Chef Brian Katz dazzles with an eclectic menu that changes depending on what's available and the season. The menu includes sushi, steaks, fresh seafood, and chicken entrees. There's Atlantic salmon served with roasted eggplant risotto, grilled filet mignon with caramelized onions, grilled lamb with blackberry sauce, grilled portobello mushrooms, rum flavored pork loin, three-day mango Asian duck, and tempura sushi. For dessert, try one of the restaurant's fruit sorbets. The restaurant is located in a restored c. 1750 stone farm building that once served as the stable for the Lovendahl plantation, a former Danish sugar plantation. The building has stone arches, two-foot thick stone walls, a courtyard with fountain, and an ambiance that can't be beat. The Old Stone Farmhouse is open for dinner only. Passport Deadline Extended Until 2006The U.S. State Department requires returning travelers from the Caribbean, Central and South America, Canada, and Mexico to show a valid U.S. passport at air or cruise ports of entry by December 31, 2006. The State Department plans to fully implement this policy for all countries by December 2008. Christmas - New Year's '06-07As many of our guests know, reservations over the Christmas - New Year's period are usually reserved almost a year in advance. If you are interested in a holiday rental for this coming season please contact us as soon as possible. Please keep in mind that most villas have a 10-14 night minimum stay requirement.
