Akasha

About Akasha, St. Lucia

Akasha sits on a hillside in the exclusive Cap Estate overlooking the Caribbean sea with views down to the world heritage site of the Pitons and of the national park – Pigeon Island. From this unrivalled location and with a glass of wine in your hand you can watch the sail boats and mega yachts as they head into the Rodney Bay marina or watch the stunning sunsets.

A contemporary villa designed for Caribbean living, Akasha combines the best of modern living with the relaxed lifestyle of the Caribbean. Every room boasts spectacular views, with huge floor to ceiling windows and minimum distractions from the stunning vistas.

Featuring a state of the art Lutron lighting system, and whole home Crestron music and video distribution you can relax by the pool with your favourite sounds delivered right from your iPod, the music server or internet radio. Listen to the same music in any of the rooms inside the house or on the lookout level while enjoying the spectacular views.

Each bedroom has a flat-panel TV allowing you to choose a movie 'on demand' from the extensive movie library or watch cable TV. Crestron panels located on each floor allow you to manage all the music, lighting, entertainment systems, security, air conditioning, fans and security gates. These can also be controlled via the remote controls found in each room. Alternatively you could just enjoy the peace and tranquility offered by this location. At night time choose a scene from the Lutron lighting system – there are blue LED lights to create a tranquil environment.

The Great Room includes the Lounge, Dining space and the Kitchen. The Lounge is equipped with a 50” plasma and surround sound using Orb speakers and Linn sub-woofer. Natuzzi leather seating helps to add to the experience. If you fold the 10ft high glass doors then you can fully appreciate the views or just walk onto the main terrace where further seating allows you to relax in the gentle breeze which blows across the location.

The detail and thought put into the design includes strategic locations of windows allowing the breeze to pass through the house and reducing the need for the air conditioning making the villa more environmentally friendly. The eco thinking has extended to capturing rain water in a separate tank and installation of solar panels for hot water.

In the Kitchen you will find an Italian – Scavolini kitchen equipped with two ovens, microwave, fridge and freezer, dishwasher. In the island unit there is an ice maker, wine cooler, an additional sink and seating for six. The Laundry room houses an additional fridge and freezer for storing those extra items when you entertain your guests. You can serve those special dishes either inside on the large glass dining table which has seating for 12, outside on the Dining terrace or in the intimate outdoor Nook area. Maybe you prefer to barbeque on the large built-in Viking outdoor grill which can be lit up at night. From here you can serve drinks to those sitting on the seats in the swimming pool.

Offering a fully air conditioned environment (at an additional cost) Akasha also boasts a 9 seat Theater with a 110" screen, able to screen high definition Blu-Ray DVD's. The best in sound quality is created using a mix of Meridian and Linn speakers controlled by Crestron. The room was constructed using ‘floating’ room techniques found in world famous concert halls.

The games room offers the opportunity to play some pool, poker or table tennis or if you wish just watch the ‘game’ on cable.
Take the elevator upstairs and entertain guests in the main bar area and play the 1976 Yamaha Grand Piano.

The elevator travels up further to the master floor level. The master bedroom boasts a Super King size bed with views over Pigeon island and a private balcony. Again you can listen to surround sound and watch the boats sailing down to Rodney bay or Marigot bay.

The top level has a Look-out for watching the world go by or star gazing at night – not forgetting that should you wish, you can listen to some of your favourite music along with a glass of wine from the fridge located close by. Here you can see the Pitons, Mount Gimme and both the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean – truly remarkable.

Reviews for Akasha, St. Lucia

  • “The sound system throughout Akasha is remarkable. As a musician, I couldn't help but also notice the exceptional acoustics throughout the house. My guitar comes with me everywhere and I won't soon forget the experience of playing my favourite flamenco piece in the living room of Akasha during a picturesque Caribbean sunset.” Erol
  • “My stay at Akasha in St. Lucia was nothing short of amazing. From watching the beautiful sunsets from the large balconies, to enjoying the amenities that the Villa offered, Akasha provided a trip that I will never forget. The design of the house allows you to have extraordinary views from any part of the house, whether it be from the comfort of your bedroom or down in the pool. The staff was very helpful in providing places to visit in the nearby Rodney Bay, as well as answering any questions that we had. From the entertainment systems in each room, seating areas on the many balconies, or outdoor kitchen with swim up bar, no detail was missed and Akasha provided a stay like no other. My family and I will be sure to visit Akasha again on our next stay to the beautiful St. Lucia.” Bryan Fisher
  • “Akasha is an absolutely gorgeous home with incredible views of both the Caribbean sunsets and the vibrant city life below. Our family of four stayed there for spring break. The home offers every modern convenience a home can offer. Our teenage children particularly enjoyed plugging their iPods into the home's speaker system and enjoying customized audio throughout the home all week. I enjoyed having coffee on the main terrace overlooking the ocean in one of the home's many comfortable outdoor living areas each morning. My husband most enjoyed walking down to the beach below the villa and the rejuvenation offered by the home's amazingly tranquil views of the sunrise each morning. We all enjoyed early morning dips in the pool. Akasha's staff went way above and beyond in making sure our stay was enjoyable and that our every need was met. There was no pressure to do pack our days with activities, but rather an offer to arrange them if we so desired, and that was nice. Some days we opted to have them arrange travel or activities on the island, while others we chose to just stay and enjoy what the villa itself has to offer. One night we cooked a fantastic meal on the poolside barbecue grill and ate on the lovely outdoor dining area overlooking the ocean. Fred gladly took us to nearby beaches and to the store or the resort below when needed. For those looking for more than just another crowded up-scale resort, a stay at Akasha is a fantastic alternative. It offers more amenities, more luxury, and of course far more space, and is far more private and peaceful. There are dozens of activities located within close proximity of the villa. The private tour of the island and the zip-lining in the rain forest were quite fun, and the restaurants recommended to us by the staff were all fantastic and quite convenient from the villa. Traveling with teenagers, it was especially nice for them to have their own bedrooms (and of course bathrooms). What a lovely place to unwind in the evening, with a glass of wine on the back terrace for the adults and a nice library of movies on the flat screens throughout the home for the kids. The site and the pictures simply don't show the true beauty of Akasha. The gourmet kitchen is far more spectacular in person than it is in the pictures, and the words and pictures describing the resort's services and staff can't adequately reflect the welcome feeling and superb service they provide to guests. The villa and the pool were immaculate on arrival and throughout our stay. The week at Akasha most definitely lived up to our expectations. We had the most pleasant vacation there we've ever had. Fred was absolutely amazing; he really knows the island and its people well and gladly helped us in deciding where to go and what to do and assisted in getting us there Fred also took us on a couple of jaunts to the local places near Akasha in the Rodney Bay area that we enjoyed tremendously and would have never, ever experienced had he not been so kind as to take us there. He went way above and beyond in making us feel welcome and all agree our stay there wouldn't have been the same without him. I think a lot more families would surely choose to stay in such a beautiful villa as Akasha over any crowded resort if they knew up front that such necessities as food and transportation were so easily arranged. Our week was truly wonderful and we hope to return someday” Beth Essex
  • “From breath taking views of the sunset on the patio, or lounging at the pool side bar, Akasha provided the relaxation that we desired when on vacation. We enjoyed the stunning views of Pigeon island from any room of the house, while listening to our favorite songs from your ipod courtesy of the high end entertainment system Akasha has to offer. If you do not enjoy cooking in Akasha's vast, stainless steel, fully furnished kitchen, take a short drive into Rodney Bay and dine at one of the many restaurants located along the strip. After dinner, we took part in the St. Lucian night-life, however, be warned the party might not stop until sunrise. If you are looking for a place to unwind, put your mind at ease, and enjoy all the amenities and luxuries Akasha has to offer.” Amar Bains
