St. Croix Transportation

Driving

Driving is on the left. A U.S. drivers license is recognized for both jeep and car rentals. There are generally no mileage charges but you pay for gas. Seat belts are required for front seat passenger and driver. For travelers from other countries, temporary driver's licenses are available at car rental counters or Public Safety. For more detailed information such as road conditions, speed limits, etc., consult the car rental agency.

Island Hopping

Island hopping is easy with 20-minute seaplane service to Charlotte Amalia. Hydro-foil ferries make the trip between St. Thomas and St. Croix in less than 90 minutes. St. John and the British Virgin Islands are just a short ferry ride away from St. Thomas. Visits to the neighboring British Virgin Islands are easy if you have a valid passport.

Entry Requirements

United States citizens do not require a passport or a visa. Upon departure, visitors from the U. S. mainland must have proof of identity such as a driver's license. Canadians are required to present proof of nationality and all other visitors must have a passport and visa.
