St. Martin and St. Maarten are well known for their fine quality and variety of restaurants.
French St. Martin is dotted with roadside markets, cafes, restaurants and lolos (grill houses). You may want to visit "Food Street" in Grand Case on the northwest coast near Marigot. It is a narrow street that is home to several restaurants where you may partake of lobster, duck, frog legs, escargot, and seafood that is served within hours of being taken from the sea. Here you will find several types of cuisine including Italian and French Creole.
Recommended Restaurants in St. Martin / St. Maarten
Les Boucaniers

We highly recommend Les Boucaniers on Nettle Bay. Located directly on the beach, you’ll undoubtedly love this authentically Caribbean, elegant gem. Perfectly prepared Creole delights are their number one specialty, but for those with an appetite for international fare, the chefs also specialize in French gastronomy. Be sure to try the fresh catch of the day!
La Cigale

Situated on Laguna Beach in Nettle Bay and surrounded by idyllic palm trees, this small French restaurant has a family atmosphere, a secluded setting with stellar views, first-rate service, an extensive wine list, and superb cuisine. Dine al fresco on a large, open-air terrace or inside. You'll enjoy unobstructed views of lovely Simpson Bay Lagoon and its surroundings.
Your experience at La Cigale begins when Olivier, the owner of this family-run restaurant, personally greets you and the personal attention continues throughout your meal. From lobster bisque to Provencal-style sea bass, the traditional French cuisine is as good as to be found anywhere in the Caribbean. House specialties include salmon carpaccio and beef Rossini with black truffle sauce. Also, save room for dessert because the melting chocolate soufflé cake is the ultimate conclusion to an amazing dining experience. To view the full menu, visit the restaurant's website.
La Cigale is open for dinner from 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. six days a week (closed Sundays).
La Gondola

La Gondola is one of the best Italian restaurants on the island. Diners come far and wide for the famous homemade pasta. In fact, La Gondola's owner started by making pasta at his shop La Raviolina. He sold the pasta to many of the island's other restaurants, but the rave reviews his pasta garnered encouraged him to add a small dinner-only restaurant to the shop that showcased his renowned pasta.
Today La Gondola is in a new space at the Atlantis Casino in Cupecoy. Guests continue to rave about the pasta as well as La Gondola's take on classic Italian dishes like osso bucco, veal piccata, and, of course, everyone's favorite Italian dessert--tiramisu. The menu also features fresh fish and seafood dishes that are also a popular choice of La Gondola's clientele.
La Gondola serves dinner only, and reservations are recommended.
