"We are contacting you from the front room of The Retreat, at the far eastern end of St. John. The ocean is to my left, visible and heard through the absence of any wall between the interior and exterior... brought about by the liberal use of automatic garage door style walls. The house is entirely open air at the moment, as are the two separate bedroom suites, and the only downside is that we share our space with a couple of lizards and a small bird who prefers the inside of the pitched roof to a tree. Spectacular view of Tortola as the sun is setting in the west, rays frolicking in the sea below us, and squid viewed during our snorkeling this afternoon... WHAT A PLACE to relax and enjoy. A must for a couple or 4some when you visit St. John."

St. John St. John is the closest to a true Caribbean experience that visitors to the U. S. Virgin Islands can have. Development is limited due to the fact that two thirds of the island is U. S.
